BS Hype about EPA ratings for Hybrids?

Now bear with me, because I haven’t actually sat down and pounded out the numbers, but it certainly looks like all the ratings are dropping for mileage, not just hybrids. And while the hybrid #’s seem to drop more, I think maybe they’re inflating the importance of that drop in order to inflate readership. I would think that as both sets drop you would still get pretty high savings for the hybrid cars vs regular cars because of the better gas mileage. In any case, I would be very curious to see the down-and-dirty specs they’re using for determining gas mileage. And for that matter, who funded the push to change the mileage ratings…
