Web-searchable Public Records

I’m going to have side with Google on this one, I think. If the govt records have sensitive data that shouldn’t be released to the general public, but yet the majority of the document should, then it’s up to the government to remove the sensitive part whether it’s accessed online or in person/physically. I think this is a great move towards governmental transparency, although your average person will probably only benefit in assorted very small ways. Few people will have the time to get deep enough into the information to really make sense of it all…but then again, that’s basically what we have now; so hopefully the whole situation just gets a little bit better.
